Introduction

The main goal of this part is to define the safety management roles and responsibilities. Also, the requirements for the safety management during concept phase and development phases are defined.

To start this phase the work products of chapter 2-6 need to be available. Furthermore it is recommended to keep the project Plan at hand, when available, as this could be useful as additional input.

Requirements to the safety management during concept phase and product development:

  • Roles, responsibilities defined
  • Planning and coordination of safety activities
  • Project-specific "tailoring" of the safety lifecycle
  • Safety Case
  • Confirmation Measures (Audits, reviews, assessments)

Work products are:

  • Safety Plan, resulting from ISO26262-2 chapter 6.4.3 (click here for template)
  • Project plan (refined), resulting from ISO26262-2 Chapter 6.4.3.4
  • Safety Case (click here for template) (For ASIL A, the creation of a safety case is not mandatory!)
  • Functional Safety Assessment Plan, resulting from ISO26262-2 Chapter 6.4.9
  • Confirmation measure reports, resulting from ISO26262-2 Chapter 6.4.7 to 6.4.9

Hint: Annex E of ISO26262-2 provides a full list of items to be assessed which could be used as input for the Functional Safety Assessment Plan
