3-6 Initiation of the Safety Lifecycle

During the Initiation of the safety lifecycle the distinction between a new product or an existing product is made. In case of an existing product the safety lifecycle may be taylored on the condition that the tayloring can be justified and that the justification is documented in the Safety Case. Either way, all the Safety Activities will be defined during this stage and will be documented in the Safety Plan. This will be used as input for the project planning.
The Item Definition is used as input to this clause. Furthermore the product concept, change requests, implementation planning and proven in use arguments may be considered as additional sources of input to this clause.
