5-5 Initiation of Product Development at the Hardware Level
Before starting on the Initiation of Product Development at the Hardware Level phase, the following prerequisites need to be available:
Project plan (Refined)
Safety Plan (Refined)
Item integration and testing plan (Refined)
Goal
The goal of this phase is to further refine the Safety Plan, adding the necessary information needed for the product development at the hardware level phase. Determination of appropriate methods and measures concerning hardware development shall be added to the safety plan. Also the reuse of hardware components or the use of qualified hardware components or parts shall be identified. The tailoring of the safety activities shall be described.
Activities
Determine and plan the appropriate methods and measures to be used during the Product Development at Hardware Level phase Ensure that the hardware development process, including methods and tools, are consistent throughout the System and Software development subphases. In case of Hardware Reuse the tailoring needs be performed according to ISO26262-2 In case of using qualified hardware copmonents or parts the tailoring also needs to be performed according to ISO26262-2
