Nomenclature that is used in SIMarchitect library will be explained in this page.

Naming Convention

Signal Interface Structure

Component_description_Unit

Signal interface example:

Aux_pwrElecReq_W auxiliary requested electric power in Watts
Eng_tqReq_Nm engine requested torque in Nm
  • Component is the short term of the component, always begin with captial letter.

for example:

Short term Component
Aux Auxiliary
Eng Engine
  • description is the description of the signal and split up using a capital letter.

for example:

Description Meaning
pwrElecReq Reqested electric power
tqReq Requested torque
  • unit is the unit of the description in SI, does not always begin with capital letter.

for example:

Unit Meaning
W Watts
Nm Newton meter
kgm2 Kilogram squared meter
rad/s radians per second
V Voltage
A Ampere
Pa Pascal
m3ps meter cube per second

Physical Interface Structure

phys_description_Unit

Physical interface example:

phys_torque_Nm physical torque [Nm]
phys_inertia_kgm2 physical inertia [kgm^2]
  • phys is to indicate that it is a physical signal
  • description is the description of the signal and type with small letter.

for example:

Description Meaning
torque Torque
inertia Inertia
speed Rotational speed
voltage Voltage
current Current
pressure Pressure
flow Flow
  • Unit is the unit of the description in SI

The unit used in the physical interface is the same as the signal interface. Please refer to the unit table example above.
