Brace Automotive is an expert on the topic ISO26262 and contributed to the recommended practice by openly helping VSE and e-Traction on implementing their functional safety procedures into their companies. Next to that, Brace automotive also made a case study on an already existing, pre-ISO26262 cruise control. The aim was to find out if it is possible to find new safety vulnerabilities in a pre-ISO26262 safety-related system. They followed the ISO26262 procedures as if it were a new product in order to analyze the hazards and risks. Also Safety Goals are defined, after which they were validated on an existing car.

Brace has used a unique approach to following the ISO26262 standard. This use-case is being used as proof of concept to show that all hazards and risks can be accounted for without going into implementation-level details which speeds up the process.
