Introduction to License Server

TestExecute can be run by any number of virtual machines running on a test server. To enable multiple Test Execute installations to be used by one license a license server is used. It can be hosted on the test server itself or on any other machine connected to the very same network. The booted instance of Test Execute then connects to the license manager via the network to check for the license.

Installation

This link contains some very useful information about the installation procedure as well as a download link for the license manager.

Configuration

The License Server itself doesn't require any particular configuration but your firewall may. To use the License Server both the TCP and UDP port 1947 need to be unblocked.

Here is how to open port 1947 in Windows 10:

  1. Navigate to Control Panel, System and Security and Windows Firewall.
  2. Select Advanced settings and highlight Inbound Rules in the left pane.
  3. Right click Inbound Rules and select New Rule.
  4. Add the port you need to open and click Next.
  5. Add the protocol (TCP and UDP) and the port number (1947) into the next window and click Next.
  6. Select Allow the connection in the next window and hit Next.
  7. Select the network type as you see fit and click Next.
  8. Name the rule something meaningful and click Finish.
